Abdullah Avci agrees terms with Besiktas

The Turkish coach is set to take the reins at Vodafone Park.

Istanbul Basaksehir coach Abdullah Avci has agreed to become the newest head coach of Besiktas, according to reports in Turkey.

Avci will replace the club’s previous coach, Senol Gunes, who left to take charge of the Turkish national team.

The Turkish coach, who has been praised for his disciplined and organized style of football, will pen an initial two-year contract with Besiktas which also includes an optional one-year extension.

Besiktas president Fikret Orman and the club’s Board of Directors are reported to have unanimously agreed that Avci is the coach they wish to lead the team into the next season. The appointment is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Meanwhile, recently departed Okan Buruk is reported to be in talks with Istanbul Basaksehir where he will fill the void left by Abdullah Avci.
