Lille in talks with Trabzonspor for Turkish midfielder

The French club continue their efforts to sign Turkish midfielder Yusuf Yazici this summer.

Ligue 1 outfit Lille remain interested in Trabzonspor midfielder Yusuf Yazici and have made an official bid for the talented midfielder.

The Super Lig club’s president Ahmet Agaoglu confirmed the bid to Turkish media as well as the fact that Yusuf Yazici wishes to leave and continue his career in Europe.

According to Agaoglu, Lille’s latest offer does not meet Trabzonspor’s expectations nor does it reflect the true value of the player.

“In no way are we in favour of selling Yusuf. I said the same thing about Abdulkadir [Abdulkadir Omur]. We aim to maintain our team as much as possible and to continue with reinforcements. But, Yusuf has made up his mind that his desire is to continue his football abroad. We had long talks with him. We said it would be better to leave next year but he insisted that he wants to go. This time, the issue has been moved to a different platform,” Agaoglu explained to beIN Sports Turkey on Wednesday.

“If he is going to leave, it will be in accordance with the interests of the club and in a way that suits him. There is no harm in telling the public. The only serious offer we received for him was from Lille. They did not come up with a figure that meets the expectations of Trabzonspor and reflects the value of Yusuf. Therefore, the issue is currently suspended,” he continued.

Earlier during the transfer window, reports surfaced claiming Lille offered €17 million plus €3 million in bonuses to push through a transfer which would have made the deal worth €20 million, however, Trabzonspor were reported to have turned down the bid.
