Trabzonspor football club will have to look elsewhere for their new striker after the club’s General Secretary Omer Sagiroglu revealed Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge has rejected the club’s offer.
While speaking to Turkish media outlet TRT Spor, Sagiroglu said Sturridge has chosen not to sign for Trabzonspor.
“Daniel Sturridge gave a negative response to our offer. The club’s staff are working on transfers. The transfer period is not over yet. Sturridge said no to us. He said he has never played in Turkey before, didn’t know much about Turkey and Trabzon and had reservations about playing in Turkey,” Sagiroglu said.
The Super Lig club were reported to have reached an agreement with Sturridge but it seems the English striker has decided against moving to Turkey’s top flight.
After failing to sign the England international, the Northeastern club have turned their focus to Norway’s Alexander Sorloth, who they signed from Crystal Palace as an alternative.
