Trabzonspor qualify for Europa League play-offs

The Black Sea Storm defeated Sparta Prague on Thursday evening to advance to the next round.

Turkish football club Trabzonspor have qualified for the 2019-2020 UEFA Europa League play-offs after they eliminated Czech giants Sparta Prague on Thursday.

The Super Lig club defeated Sparta Prague 2-1 at home in the second leg of their duel, one week after they drew 2-2 away in Prague. Trabzonspor won 4-3 on aggregate.

Another tough opponent awaits Trabzonspor in their quest to qualify for the group stages of the tournament, however. They will face Greek club AEK Athens in the play-offs.

Turkish football minnows Yeni Malatyaspor, on the other hand, bid goodbye to the tournament on Thursday after their elimination at the hands of Partizan Belgrade.

Despite winning the second leg 1-0 at home, their 3-1 away loss in the first leg meant they are eliminated with an aggregate score of 3-2.
