Stoke City’s Badou Ndiaye joins Trabzonspor

The Senegalese midfielder has returned to Turkish football for the third time in his career.

Trabzonspor’s transfer talks with Championship side Stoke City for their central midfielder Papa Alioune Ndiaye, also known as Badou Ndiaye, have reached a positive conclusion. The Senegal international will spend the rest of the 2019-2020 season with The Black Sea Storm.

He will return to Stoke City when his loan deal expires on June 30, 2020. Trabzonspor have the option to make his loan permanent for an undisclosed sum.

According to the details released by the Turkish club, Trabzonspor have paid Stoke City a loan fee of £150,000 while the player will receive a salary of  €1 million for the six month loan. His agent has been paid €100,000 for his intermediary services.

On Wednesday, the 29-year-old shared a photo of himself on his official Instagram page wearing Trabzonspor’s uniform with the caption “New Year Surprise.”

Badou has earned a good reputation as a central midfielder in Turkey ever since his first stint in Turkish football with minnows Osmanlispor.

He joined the Ankara-based club for €350,000 from Norway’s FK Bodo/Glimt and spent two seasons with the team before Galatasaray decided to sign him for €7.5 million in August 2017.

After impressing with the Istanbul club, he was transferred to Stoke City just six months later, in January 2018, for a massive €16 million — a high figure by Turkish football standards.

However, his time with the English side did not last long as he returned to Galatasaray for a season-long loan later that year during the 2018-2019 season.

Edit: The article has been updated to correct the financial details of the transfer.
