Over 2 million fans attend Super Lig games

The first half of this season’s Super Lig has seen 2.1 million fans flock to stadiums to watch Turkish football clubs in action.

Turkish football fans are known to be some of the most passionate fans the sport has seen and this season’s attendance statistics backs that claim.

According to the latest statistics published by Passolig – Turkey’s official ticket distributor — a total of 2.1 million fans have attended stadiums around the country during the first half of the 2019/2020 season of the Turkish Super Lig.

The average attendance for the season up until the winter break, is roughly 13,700. The club with the highest average attendance is Fenerbahce with a total of 38,901 spectators.

The fixture with the highest attendance was in Week 6 during the Intercontinental Derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce contested at Cim Bom’s home turf — Turk Telekom Stadium — with 51,062 fans in attendance.

In comparison, the figure for the entire 2018-2019 season is 4.2 million fans who attended Turkish Super Lig matches, according to Passolig.

Last season’s average attendance was nearly 14,000 — an improvement over 2017/2018’s average of 13,000.

Ever since the transition from paper tickets to a e-ticketing system, fans who wish to attend live Super Lig games must have a Passolig card under their name with which they can purchase tickets for Turkish Super Lig as well as 1.LIg — Turkey’s second tier — games.

Funds are added to the card with which tickets are purchased.
