Besiktas in talks with Serbian striker Prijovic

The Black Eagles are hoping to lure a striker to Vodafone Park before the January transfer window closes on January 30.

Besiktas football club are in advanced talks with Serbian forward Aleksandar Prijovic.

The 29-year-old forward’s manager, Philip Lesniweski, arrived in Istanbul yesterday to meet with Besiktas officials regarding a possible move to the Turkish club.

Prijovic is reported to be unhappy with his current club, Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad, and has instructed his representative Lesniweski to find him a new club.

Besiktas have shown interest in the tall forward but are struggling financially this season; the club’s transfer budget for January is roughly €300,000 — a far cry from their days of spending millions under the leadership of former club president Fikret Orman.

The Black Eagles also reported a massive loss in the second financial quarter of 2019 — 151 million Turkish Lira.

The Turkish club are pushing for a loan transfer without paying any fees but the Saudi Arabian side are not willing to let their player go without receiving some type of compensation for the player they paid nearly €11 million in January 2019.

Lesniweski is reported to have asked for €1.5 million in wages for his client if he joins the club until the end of the current season.

While a transfer is far from being completed, Besiktas are still keen on Prijovic despite their inability to come up with the finances necessary to facilitate the transfer.

Clubs from Russia and China are also interested in the Serbian international.
