Trabzonspor manager under pressure

Trabzonspor manager Riza Calimbay is under heavy pressure to turn things around.

Riza Calimbay, the man in charge of Trabzonspor’s first team, is rumoured to be fighting for his job. The club, which is the fourth biggest in Turkish football, has been without a win in 7 matches. Their last win was on the 16th of December, 2017, a 1-0 win against Bursaspor. Their form hasn’t been good enough for them to be where they aspire to be; in the top 4.

Their current form, last 5 matches have ended in a draw, is causing unrest among the club’s directors. A considerable amount of money has been spent on reinforcing the team during the past year which has lead to increased pressure on Calimbay.

Trabzonspor, who celebrated their 50th year anniversary this season, are suffering from a goal scoring problem as their main striker, Burak Yilmaz, is currently injured. To put things into perspective, the Black Sea Storm have won just one of the five matches Burak did not feature in. This is a concern for many within the club as well as the club’s supporters.

The other strikers in the first team, Dame N’Doye and Hugo Rodallega, are without a single league goal in 7 and 6 weeks respectively.

Supporters are hopeful the team can turn things around and start winning as they continue to slide down the league table.
