Konyaspor part ways with Mehmet Ozdilek

Konyaspor’s administration has decided to sack their manager Mehmet Ozdilek after the team lost 1-0 to Malatyaspor earlier today.

Mehmet Ozdilek has been sacked from his managerial position at Konyaspor after the club have decided his services were no longer needed. The Anatolian Eagle have managed just 5 wins this season and are currently in 16th place with 21 points.

Club spokesman, also the vice-chairman, Ahmet Baydar announced the club’s decision shortly after their loss to Malatyaspor.

“We have decided to separate our ways with Mehmet Ozidlek. We thank the coach for his services to club and wish him well in his future endeavors”, Baydar said.

Within a few hours, the club made another official announcement on their website, stating they have agreed terms with Sergen Yalcin to take over as manager until the end of the season. Yalcin is expected to be with the club starting Tuesday, March 6th.

Konyaspor have made a few big transfers moves this past winter transfer window, signing Adis Jahovic from Goztepe and Samuel Eto’o from Antalyaspor, however they will need a miracle if they are to avoid relegation from the Turkish Super Lig come the end of the season.
