French top tier club Lille has signed Turkish youngster Ferhat Cogalan from Valencia’s youth academy. The transfer was announced by the French club on their website on Wednesday.
The 16-year-old attacking midfielder has inked a three-year deal with his new club.
The French-born player previously played for Turkey’s under 14, 15 and 16 national teams. Prior to moving to Valencia in July 2013, he spent time with Barcelona’s youth academy.
Lille regard Ferhat as one of the most promising players to come out of France.
The club’s general director Marc Ingla expressed his joy after Ferhat joined Lille for the next three seasons. He said that the player had “big talent and an enormous potential for the future.”
