The resort town club have snapped up the Portuguese goalkeeper Marafona on a free transfer.

Alanyaspor have announced their first transfer of the season on Tuesday. The Turkish Super Lig outfit have signed goalkeeper Jose Marafona from SC Braga on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old’s contract expired with the Portuguese club and has decided to continue his career with Alanyaspor in the Turkish top flight.

The Turkish club’s president Hasan Cavusoglu was present alongside his team’s newest signing on Tuesday where he revealed that the player signed a two-year contract.

“He is an experienced goalkeeper. He will sweat for the club’s success. I welcome him to Alanyaspor and Alanya and wish him success,” Cavusoglu said as he sat next to Marafona.

Marafona, who has one international appearance for the Portuguese national team, thanked the club for their interest in him.

“I follow the Turkish league. I’ve played together with Baiano and Djalma. They told me great things about the club and the city. I know the league and the club very well. The club’s supporters can rest easy. I will do my best for the club, no one should have any doubts about that,” the Portuguese goalkeeper said in the press conference.
