Goztepe’s new stadium to be ready by December

The Izmir club’s new home will be ready by the end of the year.

Turkish Super Lig minnows Goztepe’s new stadium about half a year away from completion, according to the club’s president Mehmet Sepil.

Their new home ground, the 20,000-capacity Gursel Aksel Sports and Wellness Center is on schedule to be completed by the end of December 2019.

Despite this, Goztepe are planning to continue to play at their current home, Bornova Stadium, located in the Bornova district just outside of Izmir.

“We are building a stadium in one of the corners of Turkey. The contractors are telling us the new stadium will be ready by the end of December but we are going to prepare and plan as if we are going to play at Bornova for one more season,” said the club’s president Mehmet Sepil.

Goztepe and all of its branches of sport and athletics have called the stadium in Bornova their home since 2016.
