Super Lig rivals join race to sign German midfielder

Turkey’s two biggest football clubs have entered the race for Lewis Holtby’s signature.

Fierce rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have joined the race to sign German midfielder Lewis Holtby.

The 28-year-old, whose contract with his current club Hamburger SV ends at the end of June, has announced he will depart from the club upon the expiration of his deal. The German club were relegated to Bundesliga 2 this past season and Holdby has made clear his desire to play top flight football elsewhere.

According to reports from Germany, Cim Bom and the Yellow Canaries are facing fierce competition for the talented midfielder with clubs such as Chicago Fire, Cardiff City and PAOK also interested in the player.

Holtby has played for some of Europe’s top clubs including Tottenham, FC Schalke and Fulham.
