Genclerbirligi snap up FC Barcelona youngster

Gencler have made their first array into the January transfer market with the capture of Dutch right-back Mike van Beijnen.

Turkish Super Lig outfit Genclerbirligi have signed young right-back Mike van Beijnen from FC Barcelona B on a free transfer.

The Ankara-based club announced the transfer on their official website on Tuesday, December 31, underlining that they have not paid a transfer fee for the young Dutch talent.

The 20-year-old has signed a one-and-a-half year contract with Genclerbirligi, who will asses his performances until the end of the season before deciding whether he should remain with the first team, according to the statement released by Genclerbirligi.

Van Beijnen spent several years with Dutch club Willem II’s youth team before joining FC Barcelona B in July 2019.
