Karaman signs for Dusseldorf

German-born Kenan Karaman has signed for Fortuna Dusseldorf from Hannover 96.

Kenan Karaman has joined newly promoted Fortuna Dusseldorf from Hannover 96 on a free transfer, both Bundesliga clubs announced on Friday.

The attacking midfielder has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, which will keep him with Dusseldorf until June 2021.

“With Kenan Karaman we have signed a versatile attacking midfielder, who despite his young age has already gained Bundesliga experience. We are convinced that he will help us, as his potential is not exhausted yet,” Dusseldorf head coach Friedhelm Funkel said.

The 24-year-old has been with Hannover 96 since 2014 and made a total of 86 appearances scoring 10 goals. His performances in the Bundesliga earned him a spot in Turkey’s national team where he made his debut in November 2017. He has made two appearances for Turkey so far.

“I am so happy that my move to Fortuna has worked out. I am looking forward to the city, the fans and to an exciting time here,” the new arrival told the club’s official homepage.

Fortuna Dusseldorf finshed 1st in 2.Bundesliga, securing automatic promotion to play their 24th season in Germany’s top flight.
