Fener end Basaksehir 16-game unbeaten run

The Yellow Canaries have put an end to Istanbul Basaksehir’s unbeaten run of 16 games on Saturday.

Super Lig title hopefuls Istanbul Basaksehir’s impressive run of 16 games undefeated came to an end on Saturday, at the hands of their cross city rivals Fenerbahce.

Basaksehir travelled across Istanbul to line up against Fenerbahce in Kadikoy and after an intense duel, they lost 2-0.

After what seemed like an inevitable draw, Fenerbahce’s German forward Max Kruse broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute of the game.

The German managed to dribble past his marker and multiple opposing players as he made his way into the penalty are and put the ball into the back of the net with a low shot.

With four minutes remaining in the second half, Fenerbahce’s in-form striker Vedat Muriqi connected with his teammate Garry Rodrigues’ cross and doubled his side’s lead to make it 2-0.

The victory leaves Fenerbahce with 37 points, sitting just behind league leaders Sivasspor in second place.
