Sivasspor approach every game as "final"

The league leaders are preparing for every remaining league fixture as a final, says the club’s head coach Riza Calimbay.

Turkish Super Lig’s top team at the moment, Sivasspor, are showing no signs of slowing down as they march towards their first ever domestic league title.

The club are so focused that they are approaching each remaining league game as a final.

After returning from Istanbul with a 3-2 victory against Turkish football powerhouse Besiktas last weekend, the club’s head coach, Riza Calimbay remains optimistic as he looks ahead.

“It is realy tough to play against Besiktas in Istanbul and we are delighted to have grabbed three points there,” Calimbay told reporters during the week.

“We will play three teams in the top five, back-to-back. They are all tough games but there is also an advantage; We are heading into a period in which the future of the title race will shape up. If we want to go all the way, we must be on our best form against the top sides. Hence, every single game remaining is like a final game for us. We will approach them one by one,” he explained.

With an impressive record of just two losses and 12 victories in 18 games, the club are leading the title race as they sit in first place with 40 points.

The Turkish has been praised for his tactical acumen this season as he manages to get the most of his squad which saw the addition of central midfielder Claudemir for Portugal’s SC Braga during the weekend.
