Serdar Tasci leaves Spartak Moscow

The German defender has left the Russian club after deciding not to sign a contract extension.

Serdar Tasci has left Spartak Moscow and is looking for a new club. The Turkish-German player’s contract expired on June 30th and has instructed his agent to find him a new employer.

“I will not play for Spartak but I will continue to support the team as a big fan,” he was quoted as saying.

Tasci moved to Moscow from Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart in August 2013 but due to an injury, he was not able to play for the Russian side until the spring of 2014. In the second half of the 2015/16 season, he was loaned to Bayern Munich where he struggled for game time. Upon his return to Spartak, he managed to win the Russian league title in 2017.

The 31-year-old made 14 appearances for the German national team before retiring in 2010.

There are unconfirmed reports of interest from clubs in the Turkish Super Lig but it’s all speculation at this point.
