Nuri Sahin leaves Dortmund, signs for Werder Bremen

Turkish international Sahin has left Borussia Dortmund after the club cancelled his contract.

Nuri Sahin has swapped one Bundesliga club for another. The Turkish midfielder joined Werder Bremen after Borussia Dortmund terminated his deal, with one year left.

The 29-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year contract and was assigned the number 17 shirt.

He spoke of his excitement of being a part of his new home.

“Werder are a big club. I’m looking forward to being a part of it,” he said.

He thanked his previous club and their supporters for backing him during the two spells he had with the club.

“I would like to thank the club and the fans with all my heart for the past few years we’ve had together,” he said. “I’m not leaving, because Borussia will always be in my heart.”

Sahin became the youngest player to appear in the Bundesliga, at the age of 16 years and 355 days, back in 2005.

The experienced footballer has played for some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid and Liverpool.
