The former Celtic winger has been slapped with a €30,000 fine by his club, Genclerbirligi, for his recent dismissal during a Super Lig fixture.

Turkish Super Lig side Genclerbirligi have handed their winger Nadir Ciftci a €30,000 fine.

The club announced their decision on their offical website on Thursday after a meeting with the club’s Board of Directors.

Ciftci, who played for Celtic before joining Genclerbirligi on a free transfer in July 2018, was sent off during his team’s Super Lig clash with Besiktas on December 27, 2019.

“On 27.12.2019, during the Besiktas-Genclerbirligi match, Nadir Ciftci was thrown out of the game because of his attitude towards the referee. In accordance with the internal discipline policies of Genclerbirligi Sports Club, Nadir Ciftci has been fined 30,000 euro by our board of directors,” the statement read.

“We want everyone to know that we will not give up our gentleman-like behaviour and we will continue to apply the same internal discipline policy to all of our players in order to avoid a repeat behaviour which does not suit Genclerbirligi.”

“Nadir Ciftci is punished by, both, the TFF and our club for his actions. Genclerbirligi will always be by the side of our referees and the Federation and will support the ‘beautiful game’,” the club said.
