Senol Gunes shares his award

Senol Gunes was awarded 2017 Manager of the Year today by the Turkish Football Federation.

Besiktas manager Senol Gunes has another trophy to add to his cabinet; 2017 Manager of the Year award. However, the former goalkeeper decided to do something unexpected. While most would acknowledge their opposition, he went further by inviting to the stage his colleague Basaksehir manager Abdullah Avci and saying that they both deserve the award;

“I thank the Football Federation, but I want to share this award with Abdullah Avci. I’m getting this on his behalf.”, the 65-year-old said.

After telling the attendees during the award ceremony of his intentions, he received a standing ovation and extended applause from the crowd.
