Mancini speaks to TRT

Former Galatasaray manager Roberto Mancini sat down for an interview with Turkey’s TRT network.

Roberto Mancini recently sat down to discuss his past and future with Turkey’s TRT Sport’s Veli Yigit.

Below are some of his responses to the topics they discussed:

“I think the people of Turkey are very similar to Italians. During my time in Turkey, people were very good to me. I felt good.”

” The race for the Super Lig title is open. Galatasaray is a good team. They have more of a chance. Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Basaksehir are also close. I know Medel from Besiktas, close friend. He’s been in 4 champion teams.”

“Cengiz is a good player, young and lots of potential. To play in Italy is not easy. Everyone speaks well of him.”

“The fans love me; we won the Turkish Cup, we did well inthe Super Lig and Champions League. We went from 6th to 2nd place in the league. I also love the Galatasaray fans. Not just Galatasaray but I didn’t have any issues with Besiktas or Fenerbahce supporters.”

After being asked about working in Turkey again among other questions, he responded;

“Why not? One day it can happen. It’s difficult to say what can happen in life.”

“I think Galatasaray fans are upset with Arda. To me, it was odd that he moved to Basaksehir but Arda is a good person, one of the best players in Turkey.”

“It was unbelievable, we still talk about it with friends. During the Galatasaray-Juventus match, it was unbelievable atmosphere.”

Mancini also took some questions regarding Italy’s national team;

“For us, to not qualify for the World Cup was unimaginable. I don’t ever remember Italy not qualifying for a World Cup. It’s difficult to say why the team didn’t, but we have to work together.”
