Chelsea up efforts to sign young goalkeeper

Chelsea stepping up efforts to sign Berke Ozer

Altinordu’s young goalkeeper Berke Ozer is attracting a number of clubs with his performances and Chelsea are the latest to have approached the Turkish side regarding a potential transfer this summer.

Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their efforts to snap up teenage Turkish goalkeeper Berke Ozer.

Despite being just 17 years old, Ozer has already been called to Turkey’s senior squad, and has played a number of league games for second-tier Altinordu FK. According to The Sun, the Blues have been trailing the Under-21 international for months.

The report claims that Stamford Bridge officials have offered the Izmir club a partnership which would allow them to recruit Chelsea players on loan.

“Chelsea have been sending scouts to Izmir for Berke Ozer, and to take a look at our project,” Altinordu coach Huseyin Eroglu is quoted by the newspaper as saying.

“At our last meeting they said they could send us players on loan. But they seemed shocked when I said we had to politely decline. We are not interested in training up other clubs’ players. Our mission is clear. Altinordu will develop local youths to create a complete academy-developed squad.”

In addition to Chelsea, Ozer is also thought to be on the radar of Manchester City and Barcelona.
