Onur Kivrak sidelined with injury

Trabzonspor’s goalkeeper Onur Kivrak will be out for at least two weeks due to an injury, the club have reported.

Trabzonspor’s veteran goalkeeper Onur Kivrak picked up an injury during Monday’s Turkish Super Lig match against Osmanlispor and while initial reports were suggesting it to be a minor knock, further analysis has revealed the injury is slightly worse than that.

The club have released a statement regarding their star goalkeeper;

“Yesterday evening, the team captain Onur Kivrak, was injured in the Spor Toto Super Lig match played against Osmanlispor. This morning, after further medical examination and an MRI scan, he was diagnosed with an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee that had previously been operated on. Our medical staff expect our captain to return to the field after 2-3 weeks of treatment.”

The 30-year-old has been Trabzonspor’s main goalkeeper this season with Costa Rican Esteban Alvarado his backup, however, Alvarado is also missing from action due to an injury which means the club have to rely on 17-year-old goalkeeper Arda Akbulut and 22-year-old Ugurcan Cakir; both of whom are vastly inexperienced. It will be interesting to see how the club cope in the coming weeks.
