Galatasaray defender Koray Gunter to move to Italy

Koray Gunter will leave Galatasaray once his contract expires this summer.

Galatasaray’s young defender Koray Gunter will run down his contract and leave the Istanbul club.

The 23-year-old’s deal runs until June 30th however the club have decided not to offer the player a new contract.

According to Italian reports, Serie A club Genoa has began talks with the young defender and are trying to sign him. If a deal is made, he would move as a free agent with no transfer fee required.

Gunter joined Galatasaray from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 for €2.5 million with hopes that he would be a long-term player. However, he has found little playing time — just 50 appearances in 4 years — due to injuries and strong competition within the team.
