Emre Mor leaves Galatasaray to join Olympiakos on loan

The talented but troubled winger has swapped Istanbul for Athens.

Turkish winger Emre Mor’s time with Galatasaray has come to an abrupt end as the player has agreed to join Olympiakos for the remainder for the 2019-2020 season.

The 22-year-old was spotted leaving Istanbul and arriving in Athens to complete his loan transfer on the last day of the January transfer window.

After joining Galatasaray on loan from his parent club Celta Vigo in the beginning of the season for €600,000, much was expected of the youngster.

However, due to his poor record of disciplinary issues coupled with poor performances, he was regularly overlooked by Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim.

The Denmkark-born Turkey international has signed for Olympiakos on an initial short-term deal until the end of the season, however, the Greek club have the option to sign the player permanently for €6 million — roughly half of what the Spanish club paid for his record transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

Olympiakos will pay Galatasaray a loan fee of €410,000 for Emre Mor while the Istanbul club will cover the remaining transfer fee of €290,000 owed to Celta Vigo, according to the information released by the club on Turkey’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
