Demba Ba returns to China, signs for Shanghai Shenhua

Sengalese striker Demba Ba has decided to move back to China after the expiration of his contract with Goztepe.

Demba Ba has made a U-turn and signed a new, lucrative two-year contract with his former club, Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua.

The 32-year-old had left Shenhua and signed a 6-month contract with Goztepe until the end of the season after being unsettled in the far east.

However, the offer was too good to refuse it seems as he has decided to re-join his former club, Shenhua.

The striker will earn €12 million in the first year and €8 million in the second year of the deal.

He was rumoured to be in talks with Besiktas about a possible move due to his successful stint with them however the Turkish club could not compete with the financial power of the Chinese club. The Black Eagles had offered the striker a €1.5 million per year, two-year deal but were unsuccessful with their offer.

Ba, who will turn 33 on May 25, scored 7 goals in 13 games for Goztepe.
