Goztepe sack manager Tamer Tuna

Goztepe have announced the departure on their official website today.

Turkish Super Lig newcomers Goztepe have sacked their manager, Tamer Tuna. The Izmir club have released the following short statement on their site earlier today:

“We have separaed our ways with Tamer Tuna, who has undertaken the manager role in our first season in the Super Lig after many years and has had a successful season.”

“We thank Tamer Tuna and his team for the services they have provided our club and we wish them success in the next step of their professional career.”

The move comes as a surprise given that Tuna guided the team to a 6th place finish in their first season in Turkey’s top flight. There were rumours of disagreements between Tuna and the club chairman Mehmet Sepil, who bought the club for $7.5 million back in 2014, which could have played a role in the manager’s departure.
