Akhisarspor part ways with manager Buruk

Sabri Sarioglu headed to Kayserispor

The Turkish Cup champions were unable to agree on a new contract with Okan Buruk and are looking for a new boss.

Last season’s Turkish Cup champions. Akhisarspor, have parted ways with Okan Buruk.

The ongoing negotiations came to an unsuccessful end and are left with a vacant manager position.

Buruk, whose salary was the lowest in the Super Lig with 2 million Turkish lira per year, asked for a raise in his new contract however the club refused to budge on their offer; to continue with the same amount.

Negotations continued for over a month but they’ve come to a breaking point today.

The 44-year-old lead the club to the 2017 Turkish Cup trophy with a 3-2 over giants Fenerbahce last month, an unexpected achievement given the enromous difference in quality between the two teams.

Romanian Marius Sumudica was rumoured to be in talks with Akhisarspor since leaving Kayserispor but he has since signed with Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab.
