Ankaragucu sign Bakary Kone from Malaga

The newly promoted team have snapped up the defender on a free transfer.

Ankaragucu have moved quickly to sign Bakary Kone after the player terminated his deal with recently relegated Malaga.

The 30-year-old joined the Spanish club from Lyon in the summer of 2016 for €800,000 but failed to hold down a regular first team role.

He spent last season on loan with Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg where he had more opportunities, making 33 appearances.

The Burkina Faso international penned a three-year-deal (2+1) with the Ankara club.

“I researched the club and city before deciding. I read a lot. I had multiple offers but Ankaragucu showed the most interest. That’s why I chose to come here,” he said during the press conference.

Trabzonspor were also linked with the player this summer but negotiations broke off after the two parties were unable to agree on financial terms.
