Marco Fabian fails medical, transfer to Fenerbahce called off

Mexico’s Marco Fabian will not be joining the Yellow Canaries after he failed the mandatory medical exam in Istanbul.

Fenerbahce have called off the transfer of Marco Fabian, the club announced on their website earlier.

The Mexican international had arrived in Istanbul on Monday and was spotted at Ataturk airport with a Fenerbahce scarf before getting into a car headed for the club’s facilities.

However, the 29-year-old failed his medical examination at a local hospital due to a chronic back issue. The doctors reported there is a high chance of the player being sidelined with back issues in the near future.

He did have an operation in August 2017 to fix a herniated disk in the lower region of his back which kept him out of action until February 2018.

Fenerbahce released a statement addressing the public regarding the matter.

“The transfer of Mexican player Marco Fabian began with discussions and continued with his arrival in Istanbul.

We inform the public that the remaining steps of the transfer process have been negative and that the negotiations have been terminated.”
