Galatasaray terminate Tolga Cigerci's contract

The Lions have released the midfielder after terminating his contract effective immediately.

Galatasaray have terminated Tolga Cigerci’s contract, leaving him a free agent on the lookout for a new club.

The club announced the news on their website today as well as Turkey’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).

The statement released by the club reads as follows

“The contract agreement between Tolga Cigerci and our club has been terminated by mutual consent.

Accordingly, the club will save €1,925,000 of the €2,000,000 annual fee paid to the player.”

The German-born midfielder joined Galatasaray in August 2016 from Hertha BSC for €3 million.

He was a regular in his first season with the Turkish club but has since been a substitute on most occasions and this season was deemed surplus to requirements by Fatih Terim.
