Trabzonspor complete Caleb Ekuban transfer

The Black Sea Storm have added striker Ekuban to their squad.

Trabzonspor have announced the signing of Caleb Ekuban from Leeds United.

The 24-year-old has joined the Super Lig club on a season-long loan from the Championship club.

Trabzonspor have paid the English club €200,000 for the loan and has the option to make the transfer permanent for €1 million before May 31, 2019.

The player will be paid €345,000 for the 2018/2019 season but his salary will increase to €750,000 per season if he moves to the club permanently next season.

In addition to this, his representative agency Promeosport International, will be paid a comission of €225,000 if the club decides to sign him on a permanent basis.

The signing ceremony took place in Trabzon today, with club Vice President Hayrettin Hacisalihoglu and Secretary General Omer Sagiroglu.

The newest signing spoke briefly after signing the official contract.

“I would like to thank all the executives for bringing me and thank you for your interest. I was so happy when they were interested in me. I was really impressed when I saw the history and success of the club.”

Asked about why he did not have a good season last year, he said;

“You know football. Sometimes you are the top and sometimes because of injuries and bad performances you have bad days. That’s how it was last year for me. But now, I’m in a very good moment.”

He added that he spoke with Antalyaspor’s Doukara before making his decision to move to Turkey.

“After meeting with him, I made up my mind. He said it’s a very nice city and that I need to come and see it. Along with my own ideas about the place, I decided to come.”
