Dutch club appoint Turkish sporting director

Fortuna Sittard hire Cenk Ergun

Galatasaray’s former sporting director Cenk Ergun played a role in the club winning the Super Lig last season with his work in the club’s transfer recruitment last year.

Newly promoted Fortuna Sittard, who are owned by Turkish businessman Ozgur Isitan Gun, have appointed Cenk Ergun as their new sporting director to help them with their recruitment of players.

After a 16 years in the second-tier of Dutch football, Fortuna Sittard were promoted to the Dutch top flight only for the second time in their history, Eredivisie, from the second division last season.

Ergun will be responsible for the sporting operations and transfers of the Dutch club.

The small club’s best achievement is having won the Dutch Cup (KNVB Cup) twice, in 1957 and 1964.
