Russia defeats Turkey 2-1 in Nations League

The Crescent Stars couldn’t take their chances against their equal Russian opponents Friday evening.

Turkey began their UEFA Nations League journey with a 2-1 loss against Russia on Friday night.

The match took place in Trabzon in front of a passionate crowd that displayed their unconditional love for the nation’s stars.

The first half ended a 1-1 draw. Russia’s Denis Cheryshev gave the away side the lead in the 13th minute before Turkish defender Serdar Aziz equalized with a powerful strike before the end of the first 45 minutes.

The away side’s hero was Artem Dzyuba who gave his team the lead just four minutes after the break.
