Galatasaray’s Akbaba out for 3-4 months

Emre Akbaba injured and sidelined for a month with injury

The Turkish midfielder picked up an injury during his team’s victory over Erzurumspor on Friday.

Emre Akbaba had initially been ruled out for at least a month after he was taken off with an injury during Galatasaray’s 1-0 win against Erzurumspor on Friday September 28.

He was substituted off in the 38th minute of the first half since he was unable to carry on playing.

The 25-year-old was taken to a local hospital to be assessed and the results have come out worse than expected.

According to the statement released by the club on their website, the player suffered a fracture to one of the metatarsals in his left foot.

He has undergone surgery, headed by club doctor Yener Ince at a local hospital in Istanbul Sunday morning, the club said in a statement.

His recovery is expected to take 3 to 4 months which means he will not make an appearance for Galatasaray until after the winter break.
