Fenerbahce removes 3 players from squad

The crisis at Fenerbahce continues with three players being removed from the first team squad.

Fenerbahce made an announcement on Friday night that will have fans scratching their heads, as if the current predicament the club is in wasn’t bad enough.

According to a statement released on the club’s official website, veteran goalkeeper Volkan Demirel, midfielders Aatif Chahechouhe and Nabil Dirar have been “indefinitely removed from the squad.”

“As a result of the developments from the beginning of the season;

– Our club has parted ways with first-team technical staff members Turgay Altay, Murat Ozturk and Alper Asci.

– At the same time, our club has decided to remove Volkan Demirel, Aatif Chahechouhe and Nabil Dirar indefinitely from the first-team squad.

Where necessary and in accordance with our club’s restructuring targets, we declare that similar initiatives may continue and that the public will be notified of any decisions in similar cases.”

The three players will train with the under-21 side and are expected to be sold during the winter transfer window, according to sources close to the club.

The Yellow Canaries are certainly going through a difficult time, not only financially due to the weak Turkish Lira, but also sporting wise, having made a terrible start to the season.

Fenerbahce are currently in 14th place in the Super Lig with 7 points.
