Umit Karan appointed Macedonian club manager

Former Turkish international Umit Karan has began his managerial career in Macedonia with FC Shkupi.

Macedonian outfit FC Shkupi have announced the appointment of former Galatasaray midfielder Umit Karan as their new manager.

The 42-year-old was introduced during a press conference in Skopje, Macedonia where he spoke of his ambition to see the club succeed.

Sitting alongside the club’s general director Tufan Das and director of football Omer Bunjaku, he said;

“Football in Macedonia has changed. We have the opportunity to find quality players here. There very good players in the Balkans now. It was one of the reasons I chose to come here. We want to develop young players into big stars here.”

“We came to make Shkupi a well known brand name although we can’t do that alone. I’m happy and proud to be here. Some of you may ask, ‘why did Umit Karan come here?’, There’s a big project here and I came to help and be a part of this project. We are waiting for the Turkish audience. Naturally, I am waiting for their great support here. We are representing our country here,” he explained.

The small club play in Macedonia’s top flight, the First League.
