Bulent Uygun joins Al Rayyan

Turkish coach Bulent Uygun has returned to the Arab Gulf where he will continue his managerial career.

Bulent Uygun has been appointed as manager of Qatari club Al Rayyan. The Turkish coach revealed the news himself and said he was looking forward to his role at the Arab club.

The former player has signed on until the end of the current season.

“Al-Rayyan is one of Qatar’s most important clubs. We would like to thank the club and the president for giving us this opportunity. We are hopeful that after implementing our tactical vision and style we will, once again, win the championship.

I received offers from Iran’s Traktor Sazi and from a few Saudi Arabian clubs. But because of my previous success and experience in Qatar and the fact that the club wanted to work with us due to our past success, we signed our contract digitally at 1 AM.

We will go to Qatar tomorrow and begin working. Our objective, as always, is to win the championship and be successful.”

Rayyan had parted ways with Argentinian Rodolfo Arruabarrena by mutual consent and handed over the reins to their Under-23 coach Yuri O de Souza following their QNB Stars League defeat to Al Khor last week.

while in charge of Al-Gharafa last season, Uygun played a key role in the transfer of Dutch star Wesley Sneijder, as he led the team to a fourth-place finish in QNB stars League. Uygun also took Gharafa to semi-finals of Qatar and Amir Cup.
