Bafetimbi Gomis responds to Fenerbahce rumours

The Frenchman has been linked with a move back to Istanbul despite only leaving this summer.

Former Galatasaray hitman Bafetimbi Gomis has taken to his Instagram page to respond to reports circulating in Turkey regarding a possible return to join and play for Fenerbahce.

The player, now playing for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli, has responded on his official Instagram page in a lighthearted manner to the reports linking him with a move to Galatasaray’s arch rivals Fenerbahce.

“I’m proud of the rumours, they made me happy, but a Lion will always be at its home in Aslantepe,” he wrote on a picture of himself while in the gym.

He also wrote a cheeky caption underneath that saying “I am very sorry because lions can’t swim,” alongside an image of a bridge labeled Europe on one end and Asia on the other, signifying Galatasaray, who are based on the European side of Istanbul whereas Fenerbahce are on the Asian side of the city.

The 33-year-old left The Lions this past summer in August 2018 and signed for Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal after falling out with the Turkish club’s management over wage demands.

Despite his departure after just one season, the French striker continues to have a strong affinity for the club and Istanbul, where he still maintains a home and visits regularly.
