Galatasaray sign Brazilian defender Marcao

The Lions have found their new defender in Portugal.

Defending Super Lig champions Galatasaray have signed Brazilian defender Marcos Do Nascimento Teixeira, also known as Marcao, from Portuguese club Chaves, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old centre-back is an Atletico Paranaense academy product who sined for the Portuguese club in July 2018.

The tall defender has been a key player for the Liga NOS side, having made 16 appearances and scored 2 goals for them this season.

Galatasaray are reported to have struck a deal for around €3.5 million with the Portuguese club. The player has agreed to a three-and-a-half year deal.

Marcao will be paid €400,000 for the second half of the season with an increase in wages — €750,000, €800,000 and €850,000— each consecutive season thereafter.

The club have confirmed the transfer via the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) as mandatory by law and on their social media accounts.
