Istanbul Basaksehir manager's deal extended

The league leaders are set to continue with their successful coach Abdullah Avci.

Istanbul Basaksehir manager Abdullah Avci has signed a contract extension, the Super Lig side announced on Wednesday.

The 55-year-old Turkish coach, who has been with the club for several years, has agreed to a new and improved five-year contract with the ambitious club.

The long-serving coach has been with the club since 2006, when the club were in Turkey’s second division and were known as Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyespor.

He has managed 416 games as Basaksehir’s coach, winning 190, drawing 116 and losing 110 games.

Basaksehir are currently in first place in the title race and are hoping to win their first ever Super Lig title.
