Roman Neustadter: We will avoid relegation

Fenerbahce’s Russian defender said he believes the club will avoid relegation from the Super Lig this season.

Fenerbahce defender Roman Neustadter was interviewed by German news outlet Bild where he was asked a number of questions including about his club’s unfortunate predicament in the league.

The Russian centre-back said he has no doubts about Fenerbahce remaining in the Turkish Super Lig despite their sub-par performances this season.

“We are in a bad place in the Super Lig. We are doing everything we can to avoid relegation. No one expected this and it hurts us a lot. Unfortunately positive talks are not bringing anything. We had opportunities to move up but we didn’t make us of them. Confidence is very low now. But I believe one hundred percent we will remain in the league and avoid relegation. but we need to turn things around as soon as possible,” he explained.

The veteran defender also revealed he has plans to return to the Bundesliga at same point in his career.

“Phillip Cocu came at the beginning of the season. Slimani and Ayew came from the Premier League. But the Turkish league is very different from Europe’s leagues. The most important thing here is the psychological state. The supporters really play a key role in a club’s success. The derby atmospheres are unbelievable. I haven’t spoken with the club about my future yet. There needs to be a good reason first. But I want to return to the Bundesliga one day. It doesn’t matter which club, I’m open to any offer,” he said.
