Sivasspor sign Hugo Vieira from Japanese club Yokohama

The Super Lig club have brought in Portuguese striker Hugo Vieira from J-League giants Yokohama F. Marinos.

Sivasspor have signed striker Hugo Vieira from J-League giants Yokohama F. Marinos on a free transfer, the club announced on their official website.

The 30-year-old Portuguese striker, the club’s third signing this month, has inked a one-and-a-half year deal with the Turkish club.

Speaking alongside their new signing during the signing ceremony, club president Mecnun Otyakamaz reminded reporters of the difficulty of signing players during the January transfer window.

“As you all know, it is very difficult to make signings during the middle of the season but we’ve made a very important transfers this month. We signed Diabate then Fatih Aksoy. And now, we’ve signed a player who will solve our attacking problems. I welcome Hugo Vieira and I believe he will make an important contribution to our team,” he said.

The club’s newest signing, Vieira, said he was very happy to have joined his new team.

“I’m very happy to be here. Sivasspor is a big club, a big organization. I will do whatever I can to be useful for the team,” he said.

The striker has played for a number of clubs during his career including Benfica, Braga, Red Star Belgrade, Sporting Gijon and Yokohama F. Marinos before embarking on his latest journey in the Turkish Super Lig.
