Adebayor hints at Istanbul Basaksehir exit

The former Arsenal star says he could have played his final game for the club.

Istanbul Basaksehir striker Emmanuel Adebayor has dropped a serious hint at a potential departure from the Turkish club after suffering a crushing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Galatasaray who clinched the title on Sunday.

Following the final whistle, reporters lined up to ask the veteran striker for his side of the scuffle which saw him pushed over and Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim sent off to the stands.

“Fatih Terim came over to our substitutes bench. He had an argument with Robinho. I tried to stop Fatih Terim. I tried to tell him that he needed to clam down. You can see that on the television. Galatasaray’s backup goalkeeper, or whoever he is, came over and pushed me down. I’ve always promised to abide by fair play in my career and will continue to do so until the end of my career. We were close to the title. There were 45 minutes left. I congratulate Galatasaray,” said Aebayor as he gave his side of the story.

The former Arsenal striker also revealed he could have played his final game for the club and is unsure of his future with the Turkish club.

“I don’t know. I will go home and sleep tonight. I will speak with my family and will decide after that. Anything is possible. This is football. Basaksehir gave me a lot. I am happy to have played for this club. Maybe this will be my final game, maybe not. At the end of the day, everyone knows I am a happy person,” he responded when asked about his future with the club.
