Super Lig promotion play-off marred by crowd disturbance

The play-off semi-final was stopped several times due to disruptive fans.

The final minutes of Hatayspor’s clash with Adana Demirspor in the second leg of the Super Lig promotion play-off semi-final was like a scene from a horror movie.

The high-tension game was disrupted for several minutes after overly passionate away fans made their frustrations known when Hatayspor was to be declared victorious in the encounter that ended 3-2 in their favor against Adana Demirspor.

Fans from the away side’s section of the stadium began throwing rocks, water bottles, coins and even the plastic seats they were sitting on, on to the field.

As a result, two policemen were left bloodied and had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment while several other were also left bruised and battered.

Police and stadium security personnel eventually managed to restrain the large crowd of fans but not before arresting several for their reckless behavior.

Hatayspor moves on to the final of the Super Lig promotion play-offs where they will meet the other finalist, Osmanlispor FK, who defeated Gazisehir Ganizantepspor via penalties on Sunday evening.
