Fatih Terim signs contract extension with Galatasaray

The Emperor will remain in charge of the club for the next five seasons.

Galatasaray have announced current coach Fatih Terim has agreed to a five-year contract after defying the odds to be crowned Turkish Super Lig champions for a record-breaking 22nd time in the their history.

The announcement was made by Galatasaray chairman Musutafa Cengiz in front of 38,000 fans during their title celebration ceremony at their home stadium, Turk Telekom Stadium, on Saturday evening.

“We will sign a five-year contract with our beloved Fatih Terim, the number one coach of Turkish football,” Cengiz told the crowd and attendance.

In front of the thousands in attendance, Terim signed his new, five-year contract with The Lions.

Terim lead The Lions to a historic 22nd league title under seemingly impossible circumstances when they overcame league leaders Istanbul Basaksehir in the final two weeks of the season.

Cengiz promised the club’s supporters the team will add another star to their uniform during the next five years.

Terim’s previous deal, an 18-month contract which he signed in 2017, was due to expire at the end of the month.
