Turkish coach Mustafa Denizli joins Iranian club Tractor Sazi

The experienced coach has moved to Iran where he will continue his managerial career with Tractor Sazi.

Turkish coach Mustafa Denizli has agreed to take the reins at Iranian outfit Trator Sazi.

The former Kasimpasa coach has signed on the dotted line for the Iranian club and has been tasked with qualifying for next season’s Asian Champions League. The financial details or the length of the contract are yet to be made public.

The 69-year-old was briefly unemployed after resigning from his previous club, Turkish Super Lig club Kasimpasa, due to terrible performances in the second half of the season where the team suffered consecutive defeats for months.

The Turkish coach is a familiar name in Iran as is he with the football-mad country, having previously managed Iranian sides Pas Tehran between 2004 and 2006 and Persepolis FC twice — between 2006 and 2007, and 2011 and 2012.

He will be replacing Tractor Sazi’s previous coach, Belgian national Georges Leekens.

Denizli will be the second Turkish coach to join Tractor Sazi in recent times, with the first being Ertugrul Saglam who managed the club in 2018 but was sacked later that year.
