Kasimpasa manager Mustafa Denizli resigns

The Turkish coach has walked away from the Istanbul club after a disastrous run of defeats in the second half of the season has seen them slide down the league table.

Mustafa Denizli has resigned from his post as Kasimpasa manager, the Istanbul club announced on Tuesday evening.

The 69-year-old wrote a public letter to address his resignation which was published on the football club’s official website.

“We are at a point in the second half of the season where we can not realize the big goals we set for Kasimpasaspor. This situation has led to the formation of a negative psychological environment in my team and our management. During my entire career, I have always realized my goals with great thinking. And, with great sadness, I am witnessing for the first time in my life that my target is incompatible with the results.

Therefore, with these good intentions, I am leaving my position as of today.

I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. President, our board of directors, our administrative and technical staff, our supporters, all of our club employees and, of course, the football players.

Sincerely,

Mustafa Denizli”

Kasimpasa thanked the Turkish coach for his services and wished him success in the next stage of his career.

First-team coaches Ilyas Ozturk and Erkan Coker have been placed in charge of team for the final two weeks of the season.

The Istanbul-based club were one of the best performing clubs in the first half of the 2018-2019 season, however, after multiple player departures — including the sale of their best striker Mbaye Diagne to city rivals Galatasaray — the club’s performances took a nosedive after the winter break.

Since the turn of the year, Kasimpasa have won just four games, sliding down the league table.

Denizli, who took charge of the club in October 2018, leaves with a record of 10 wins, 6 draws and 15 defeats in 31 games as Kasimpasa manager.

Their last win was back on April 7th, a 2-1 victory against Erzurumspor.
