Galatasaray sign Falcao on €5m-a-year deal

The Lions have completed the transfer of Colombian striker Radamel Falcao from AS Monaco after weeks of negotiations.

Turkish Super Lig defending champions Galatasaray have pulled off the signing of the summer for Turkish football with their latest transfer. The Istanbul club have signed world-class striker Radamel Falcao on a free transfer from AS Monaco on Monday.

The 33-year-old has inked a three-year contract with The Lions.

ACcording to the statement released by the club on Monday, the club will pay Falcao €5 million-per-season for three seasons.

Falcao was reported to have agreed to join the Turkish club as early as July however his previous club, AS Monaco, were holding out for a transfer fee which Galatasaray, ultimately, managed to avoid.

However, should Falcao be sold by Galatasaray in the future, they will pay 60% of any ransfer fee they receive to AS Monaco.

The Colombian international received a hero’s welcome at Istanbul after arriving via a private plane on Sunday evening. Over 25,000 fans gathered at Ataturk Airport to catch a glimpse of their new striker.

In addition to Falcao, Galatasaray also signed Mario Lemina from Southampton, Florin Andone from Bright & Hove Albion and Taylan Antalyali from Erzurumspor on Monday, the final day of the Turkish football transfer window.

Lemina has been brought in on a season-long loan with the option to buy the player for €16 million before June 30, 2020. He will earn €2.05 million during the 2019-2020 season.

Andone has also joined the Istanbul club on a one-year loan. Galatasaray have paid Brighton €700,000 for the player’s transfer.

Antalyali, on the other hand, has signed four-year contract with Galatasaray and will be paid 2 million Turkish Lira (TL) for the 2019-2020 season as well as receive a 4 million TL signing bonus.
